Over the last few years I've been playing games on my phone to earn points which I then turn into gift cards. Typically I turn my points in to gift cards I can use at Barnes and Noble or Amazon so I can purchase ebooks. Many of the games I play don't require any skill so I can sit and click them while watching TV. I've earned $40 by playing the games I talk about in this article.

I play all my games on my iPhone 5s so these are all in the Apple App store. I know the Google Play store for Android devices has many of these same games but your mileage may vary if you are using a platform that isn't iOS.

The games you want to play are affiliated with the mPlus Rewards system. mPlus (formerly mPoints) is the system that collects your points when you play games in many different apps. Now you are not going to be getting giftcards overnight. It takes a lot of points to cash out. A $5 gift card costs 12,500 points. You can typically earn about 50 points per game per day. There is a limit on the max number of points you can earn per day. I look at it like this, if I can earn some money by playing games on my phone that I think are fun, I'll go for it.

Here are my favorite games and apps that are affiliated with the mPlus system for iOS.

No Skill games

All of these games essentially require you to just click the screen repeatedly to unlock achievements. These require no really participation or skill on your part, just tap the screen!
  • Flip Da Coin - Tap the coin to flip it and unlock achievements
  • Spin Da Slots - Pull the lever to spill the slots and unlock achievements
  • Tap Da Cookie - Tap the fortune cookie to read your fortune and unlock achievements
  • Da Daily Insult - Tap the dispenser to read an insult and unlock achievements
  • Da Daily Compliment - Tap the dispenser to read a compliment and unlock achievements
  • Light Da Fuse - Tap the sky to launch fireworks and unlock achievements
  • Roll Da Dice - Tap the table to roll the dice and unlock achievements
  • Cut Da Deck - Tap the cards to split the deck and unlock achievements
  • Ask Da Ball - Tap the ball to get a magic 8 ball type answer and unlock achievements
  • Guess Da Number - Tap the screen to see a number and unlock achievements

Location Services

Check in to stores while you are out and about to earn points
  • mPlus Places - Check into local stores while you are out shopping for points. You can earn a good 250 points for your 25 daily checks worth 10 points each. Be sure to open the app the next day to open any little present boxes for even more points
  • Earn Pike - Using location services, enable the app before going for a drive and earn points for each mile you drive while the app is open.

Games

  • Parsecs - Navigate your space ship through one screen asteroid fields. Make it from the bottom to the top of the screen through each level and unlock achievements for points.
  • Cats 2048 - Swipe tiles to combine numbers together to equal 2048. The tiles have cats on them, hence the name.
  • Office Jerk, Office Zombie, Holiday Jerk - Throw objects at the Jerk to unlock achievements and earn points. I love how funny this one is since you throw all sorts of things like a hammer, stapler, pizza, snow globe, piece of paper. This one takes some practice to learn all the achievements so you can unlock them and achieve the most points daily.
  • Plumber Crack - Kind of similar to the Jerk games, your goal is to throw ice cubes down a plumbers pants.

Useful Apps

These aren't so much games but are apps that you might have a use for and if you're already using an app for this purpose, why not make points at the same time!
  • Moviefone - Earn points by watching trailers and looking up movie times. You can also purchase tickets in the app but I don't think that earns you points.
  • Daily Craigslist - Earn points for reading craigslist postings. So easy!

Games I used to play

Here are some other games I have played in the past to earn points but I don't play them much anymore
  • Dragons - Rise of Berk - Start your own island of Berk with dragons from How to Train Your Dragon
  • Jurassic Park Builder - Start your own Jurassic Park and raise dinosaurs
  • Streak Runner - Similar to Temple Run where you have to avoid obstacles while running down the street. This guy is naked so when you run into things the effects can be pretty funny.
  • Grumpy Bears - Ward off some bears chasing you by throwing things at them.
  • Office Jerk - Judged - Another game in the Jerk series. This time you throw things at a judge at sporting events. I didn't think this was as funny as the other Jerk games.

There are even more games that what I have listed at mPlus apps. Most of the games I play are developed by Fluik so you might want to check out what else they offer (they are the creators of Office Jerk). The Small Fortune Company also makes more games like Cut Da Deck that are easy to earn points with.

Have fun!

I knew I wanted to make some crafts for two expecting moms. I saw this button elephant and I knew this would fit in with one of the nurseries that was Jungle themed. First I needed my canvas and buttons.

That's my assistant, Chloe. I decided I needed to sort the buttons by color so I could easily find the color and shape button I was looking for. I used an ice cube tray to sort the buttons by color and size.

I googled elephant clip art and found a few that I liked. I cut them out and placed them with my canvas to decide which one I liked best.

I decided on this guy

I traced him onto the canvas and painted that a color similar to the color buttons I was using.

I turned on some Angel on netflix and started glueing buttons

Here is the finished elephant

Once I had completed the elephant, I made a monkey inspired by the Rockstar Monkey print that my other friend's nursery was themed with.

I really like how these came out and the moms did too. They were fun and relatively easy to make. The hardest part was placing the buttons and not burning my fingers on the glue coming out of the holes and all the hot glue stringy pieces.

A while back I had pinned this on my Pinterest board. The link to the original tutorial is long gone now it seems but I thought I'd post my projects anyway.

Here is an example of one in progress

To start this project I typically went to Michaels and bought the two pack of 8x10 blank canvas. The rhinestones came in a giant pack of like 1000 from Joann Fabric. The large gems are actually jewelry pieces that I found for super cheap on clearance. The ones on the H canvas are just scrap book stickers. I took the font Scriptina and wrote out the letters in the size I wanted and then printed and cut them out. I placed those on the canvas first and then added the big gems. After that it was just gluing down all the different colored rhinestones. One of these is mine and hangs in my office at work, the second one was a bridal shower gift and the last one was a present for my sister.

Andrew and I got engaged on 11/28/2013. We spent Thanksgiving 2013 in New York City to watch my brother Larry march in the Macy's Great American Band. Andrew had been planning the proposal for a few months with my family to find the perfect place to propose on this trip. After the parade, Andrew and I took a walk through Central Park toward FAO Schwarz with my parents, Ira and Tracy and their friends Bruce and Dee. Andrew mentioned that he wanted to stop somewhere and take some pictures so he lead the way with the GPS in my iPhone. Oblivious to what was going on, I walked in the back of the group with my Dad enjoying the scenes of Central Park.

When they arrived at the Gapstow Bridge, Andrew lead me over to the water's edge. He had removed his furry winter hat and gloves and took off my furry hat as well. I figured they would be taking some nice photographs with the bridge  in the background so it made sense to remove all the crazy warm hats and thick gloves. The rest of the party stood off to the side. Close enough to snap the pictures but far enough away that they had a private moment.

Andrew's first sentence started with "Five and a half years is a long time." I knew right away what was going on. This was such a special moment that is captured forever in these photographs.

It's been a long time since I've posted here at WithaSparkle. Since the last time I blogged I have

  •     Got a cat

  •     Spent Thanksgiving in New York City

  •     Traveled to the Outer Banks in North Carolina

  •     Got engaged to my boyfriend of five and a half years

I really wanted to start my blog back up in 2014 to share all of the projects I plan to be making for my wedding. I'm working on a post with our engagement story. I hope you enjoy sharing this journey with me.

This CoverGirl shadow in Lavender is a matte light purple. I like to use this for a highlight when doing purple looks.

Swatched with no primer. This shade is super light. Click the picture to get a better idea of the color. It's a very pale lavender. Still not anything spectacular. I was hoping for some darker pigmentation. I only paid a dollar for this so I use it as a highlight.

A while back I posted a stained glass votive that I made using nail polish. I decided to do this again with some jars I had around for my q-tips in the bathroom and my makeup area.

I also did a larger jar that I will be using for my makeup brushes.

This jar was layered with a purple polish first, then the blue and purple glitter polish on top. I layered some cheap top coat over all these to give them a glossy finish and I love how they look in my bathroom and makeup area.

I found this mirror at the Dollar Tree and decided to glam it up a little with some rhinestones. I don't think it looks like it was from the dollar store anymore!

This mirror now sits on my desk at work.

I have been doing lots of surfing through Pinterest lately and found a craft I wanted to make my mom for mothers day.

I followed a tutorial for making this. I think I should have stuck with making the butterfly one color and the flowers should have been groups of color. I think it looks pretty in my window. When I finish the one for my mom, I'll post that here as well. All I used for this was a picture frame from Dollar Tree, glue from the Dollar Tree and paint that I got at Walmart for about fifty cents a bottle.

When I was on vacation in North Carolina, I spent some time collecting sea shells that had washed ashore. I did this thinking I would find a frame and glue the shells to the frame when I got home. I made one for myself and one for my mom. We had such a great time on vacation, this will be a great way to remember it. The picture is of myself and my boyfriend Andrew.

I purchased these two frames at the Dollar Tree. To hold the shells onto the frame, I just took some E6000 glue and stuck them on there. I like that I had all different size, shape and colored shells. It makes the frame more interesting than if they were all white. If you're not going to the beach anytime soon, I saw a package of shells at the Dollar Tree if you want to try out this craft too. I'm sure they also have shells at the bigger craft stores like Michael's or Joann Fabric too.

Back in March, I took my brother to the opening night of the Hunger Games movie. We didn't go to the midnight showing (like we did for Harry Potter) but we still had a great time. Here is the nail look that I had for that night.

This look was inspired by the flames Katniss wore on her nails when she was in the Hunger Games. She talks about them while she is in the arena. Right before the premier of the movie, CutePolish did a tutorial of how to create this look. I followed this video to create what you see above. Painting the design on the plastic bag was super easy and they stuck right to my nails with a little bit of clear polish. I did my flames twenty four hours before I was going to apply them so they had time to dry. Now I couldn't go to the movie with just awesome nails, I had to get myself an outfit to go with it. I made myself a Mocking Jay pin by printing one out and taping it over one of my broaches. I did my hair in a side braid and did a smokey eye for my makeup. My necklace and earrings are an iridescent red that reminded me of fire. I had a great time seeing this movie. It's almost time for it to come out on DVD so it will give me the chance to watch it again!

I went to a salon recently to use my Groupon for a mani-pedi. I was going to get DS Mystery but the bottle of polish broken when it got opened and spilled all over the lady who was going to do my nails. Instead I chose DS Extravagance. I think I need to buy this.

I recently picked up some polishes from the JulieG nail polish collection. One of my favorites right now is Mermaid's Tale. I also picked up my first Spoiled polish (made by WetnWild). My Spoiled polish is called Use Protection. The JulieG polishes are exclusive to Rite Aid and the Spoiled polish is exclusive to CVS right now.

I love all the different shades of teal, blue and gold flecks in the Spoiled polish. Mermaid's Tale makes a great base under this glitter.

It has been a crazy past three months or so. Around the beginning of April my boyfriend and I decided that we were going to move into a bigger apartment. I spent most of April packing up my belongings and moving a few doors down and three floors up to a new apartment in the same complex. After that we've been on vacation to New Jersey and North Carolina. I feel like now is time to start blogging again as I will have the time and space to do so. I haven't been doing anything special on my nails lately but I plan to start doing so again soon. I have been posting a lot on instagram lately so if you want to follow me on there, my user name is withasparkle. I have also been doing a lot of crafts from pinterest that I want to share with you. Most of them have been successful but I might need to submit one to CraftFail.

This is my first Elf Studio Blush. I found this one for a dollar at my Dollar Tree. This is a berry shade of blush with lots of gold shimmer. I find that this one is slightly chalky in texture and will crumble easily in the pan. It looks pretty on my cheeks so I can get past the chalky texture.

For Christmas my wonderful boyfriend got me two packs of the Sally Hansen Salon Effects. The one I wore first is the glittery one in Blue Ice. When I opened these, I was surprised that they were not gritty like glitter nail polish tends to be on your nails. They were smooth and super easy to apply. I had a hard time getting them to sit straight on my dominant hand but overall I had an easy experience applying them.

Sadly I decided to apply my Poshe fast drying top coat on top of the strips to help them wear longer. I do not recommend adding a fast dry topcoat. The cuticles of the strips started to peel up and were very sharp and rough feeling. They felt annoying if I ran my hand through my hair and looked really bad. I must not have wrapped the tips very well because by the second day, I was missing lots of chips on the tips of my nails. They came off after three days. I don't know if the removal is like this for all of them, but the glitter strips were like glitter polish and did not want to come off. My cotton rounds were tearing when I tried to rub off the now gritty glitter since the smooth surface was removed. I soaked some of my cotton rounds in removed and held them on my finger for a bit. This seemed to loosen the glitter and made the removal easier. I can't wait to try another design now that I know what NOT to do. My boyfriend got me some really cute butterflies that I want to try next.

I decided to try the Epielle Makeup Remove Wipes after seeing Nouveau Cheap's review. I can find these at Big Lots in a pack of 60 for two dollars. I like the green tea ones but they also come in aloe and original. These wipes are soft, moist and take off makeup. This is my second package of these wipes.

I've been looking though some of my polishes and I wanted to show you my older Sally Hansen Chrome polishes. They don't make these any more but boy are they beautiful! I received one from a friend and the other two I got when I did  Freecycle.

This is Amethyst Chrome. It's a pinkish purple metallic polish.

Opal Chrome is a lighter shade of pink than Amethyst Chrome.

Topaz Chrome is a beautiful golden shade.

Since these are chrome finish polishes, they can easily streak and cause brush lines in your manicure. My favorite thing to do with these polishes is to wear them with black shatter, which really brings out the chrome polishes. I also like to use them for stamping.
