Today I decided to make my first Fracken! A Fracken is a nail polish that you create by mixing together other polishes, loose powders and glitter. To create my polish, I used my LA Colors Topcoat, an LA Colors loose eyeshadow in Lollipop and some pink circular glitter. I purchased all of these items from the Dollar Tree.
On my thumb is one coat before I added the glitter. On my pointer finger is one coat after I added the glitter. Since this polish is better suited as a layering polish, I decided to follow what Jeanie did over at Midnight Manicures and using a black polish on Pink Wednesday. This is two coats over LA Colors Art Deco in Black.

I have decided to name my first Fracken With A Sparkle after my blog!

Edit: My friends over at  the Nail Polish & Gossip Facebook group have informed me that the word is not Fracken, but Franken, like Frankenstein! I've decided that I like the word Fracken better as it reminds me of one of my favorite shows, Battlestar Galaticia.

I wanted to do my nails with Wish Upon a star from my recent Haul. Since this is a rather sheer looking polish I decided to layer it over China Glaze's VII. Here it is with one coat.
Next I added 1 coat of Wish Upon A Star

I decided that the silver covered up too much of the purple, so I went looking through my Bundle Monster plates to find a stamp. I remembered seeing something that Let Them Have Polish did lately using the feathery looking stamp and some blue polish. Check it out here.

This look was hard to photograph. In person it kind of looks like Wish Upon A Star was the stamp, if that makes sense. It's like VII is peeking out from under Wish Upon A Star when it was really stamped over it.

I went shopping recently and wanted to share the goodies that I picked up with you.

From Left to Right they are
Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in A Girl's Best Friend - Rite Aid, clearance for $2.49
Wet N Wild Fast Dry in Sea Witch - CVS, $1.99
Wet N Wild Craze in Morbid - CVS, clearance for $0.99
Orly in Close Your Eyes - CVS, $6.79 - $5.00 beauty club extra bucks = $1.79
Essie in Buy Me A Cameo - Rite Aid, $8.00 - $2.00 coupon from making a donation to the Children's Miracle Network a couple months ago = $6.00
Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Wish Upon A Star - Rite Aid, clearance for $2.49

Total -  17.17
That averages out to about $2.86 a polish! Not bad for some bargain shopping. Boy did I dig around to find the good polishes at Rite Aid. I saw a few other polishes that were pretty but when I went to the second Rite Aid, my mission was to find an Essie and get the heck out! I can't wait to wear all these polishes!

In my mind, this design looked so much better.

I can't even say anything about it. Please feel free to laugh, I know it is bad. I used LA Colors Bronze, Sally Hansen Iced Coffee, and LA Colors Art Deco in black. If I ever try this again, I need to make smaller black outlines on the spots.

Have you ever had a nail fail?

In my first Five Below Haul I purchased this purple Funky Fingers called Cheshire. I don't have any other purples like this in my collection and it dries matte. I decided to add a little sparkle to this by adding Funky Finger's Sand and Stilettos.

It's Pink Wednesday! This is my first real neon pink polish. Look at how bright it is! This is a Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Fuchsia Flare

I got a little thirsty tonight so I made some Pink Lemonade flavored Koolaid for the occasions. I drink it from my Beauty and the Beast glass from Burger King in like 2000. The image is chipping off from use and all the trips it has made in the dishwasher.
Now what would this be without some sparkle? I added another Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polish in Snappy Sprinkles - a pink flakie polish with some tealy green flakes as well.

I found three Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polishes for 3.18 each. They are in Fuchsia Flare, Snappy Sprinkles and Jade Jump. Snappy Sprinkles is a pretty pink flakie polish. Jade Jump is said to be a dupe for OPI's Mermaid's Tears from the Pirates of the Caribbean Collection. These polishes dry SUPER fast and I was really impressed.

Today's mani is to remember little Eli, the son of one of the ladies in my Nail Polish and Gossip Facebook group. Eli would have been 6 months old today had he not passed away at 16 days old. We decided to do blue manicures in honor of little Eli.

I painted my nails with two coats of Zoya Breezi and stamped with an image from the original Bundle Monster plates in LA Colors Art Deco White. Rest in peace little Eli.

I went to see the midnight premier of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 this morning with my brother and boyfriend. We had a great time! My brother made the sword of Gryffindor and whittled two wands out of dowel rods for us. I wanted to do my nails special for this event so here is what I came up with:

  • Pinkie - Hufflepuff colors - LA Colors Art Deco in black and Wet N Wild The Wonder Yellows
  • Ring finger - Black with lightening bolt - LA Colors Art Deco Black and LA Colors Art Deco in Bright Yellow
  • Middle - A Sock with a D for Dobby - LA Colors Megawatt (background) LA Colors Art Deco in White
  • Pointer - Slytherin colors- Sally Hansen Emerald Green, LA Colors Art Deco in silver and LA Colors Art Deco in black
  •  Thumb - Professor McGongall in the Sorting Hat - LA Colors Megawatt (Background), Bundle Monster stamps from the first and second series, LA Colors Art Deco in Black

  •  Pinkie - Ravenclaw colors  - Sally Hansen Blue It, LA Colors Art Deco in Silver
  • Ring finger - Snitch in the night sky - Zoya Indigo, Wet N Wild Gold Miner, LA Colors Art Deco in White
  • Middle finger - Sword of Gryffindor killing Nagini - LA Colors Art deco in Bright Green, Black and Silver, LA Colors Transformer
  • Pointer - Gryffindor colors - LA Colors Transformer, Wet N Wild Gold Miner
  • Thumb - Deathly Hallows symbol - LA Colors Megawatt, LA Colors Art Deco in Black
A better shot of the Sword of Gryffindor killing that snake! I think this is the most creative nail art that I did. I decided to add some blood to add to the killing motion I was going for. This was one of my favorite moments of the battle in the book and Neville did a great job of this in the movie. I hope you enjoyed this mani. I had a hard time trying to come up with ten different nails but I really liked the results!

"All was well."

For this Pink Wednesday I got out my new Funky Fingers polish from Five Below and painted my nails pink!

I then decided I needed to stamp this with Bundle Monster Plate BM04 and LA Colors Art Deco in Black.

I went to my first Five Below today to look for some Funky Fingers. Sadly I did not find the exact colors that I was looking for but I did pick up these three

From left to right they are Favorite Girl, Sand and Stilettos and Cheshire. I was honestly kind of disappointed with Five Below. The ladies in my Nail Polish and Gossip Facebook group talk this store up to be way cooler than it was. Maybe it was just my store? I hope to go back there again in a few weeks to look for Kenya Sunset and a few other pink polishes that I have seen. Apparently Funky Fingers also makes a crackle polish, but I did not see any at my local Five Below.

I was on a mission for the pink Metallic Crackle by China Glaze. So I headed out to the Sally's closest to my work: no more Metallic Crackles. They had sold out already. I then went to the Sally's closer to my house and they only had the teal, gold and purple. So I picked up the purple one and placed it over my mani in memory of Calyee Anthony.

This color is called Latticed Lilac. I think it looks great over my Caylee mani, although I think the shimmer in it is conflicting with the Firefly that I had already placed underneath. I think that the formula for this crackle is not as thick as my OPI Black Shatter. I'm not sure if you can tell in the pictures but there are defiantly areas that did not get enough polish so they look really streaky. I think I should have used more polish when applying this and that would have cut down on the streaking. I did a few more samples to show you of Latticed Lilac.
In the first picture, I placed it over black. That one really shows the color of the polish. The second one is over a champagne color and makes the purple harder to make out. As soon as I can find the pink metallic crackle at Sally's, I will be picking it up. I love how sparkly this polish makes my nails!

One of the ladies in the Nail Polish & Gossip Facebook group I am in suggested we do our nails purple in honor of Caylee Anthony. Caylee was two years old when she became an angel three years ago. To honor her, I did my nails with Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure in Lavender Cloud. I stamped a butterfly in Zoya's Caitlyn and added some Jessie's Girl glitter polish in Firefly. Rest in peace sweet baby girl.
